After filling out the form I got my check and used it to pay off some credit card debt, put $4000 payment into my mortgage and invested the remainder in my child's college education fund. I am a bank teller, and have moved from workplace to workplaces 4 times in the last 7 months. I love what I do but sometimes it doesn't pay all the bills, you know how it is. I am already thinking about cutting down my hours at the bank and spending more time at home with my kids, just a little worried about the state of the economy...but the grants have definitely helped ease my worries.

Note: Listen, I have seen all of they "get rich quick" schemes on TV where they try and convince you to invest in real estate and other crap. Currently I am a proud bank teller devoted to my family. I was was brought up and still live in Woodbridge, NJ. Over the last 5 or so years I have struggled with trying to save money. Seems like year after year I would withdrawal more money then I actually deposited, leading me to have some debt (ironic for a bank teller, i know). My salary was just enough to cover mortgage, taxes, credit cards, kids expenses...these things all add up!

Eventually my credit cards went out of control after buying just a couple nice things every once in a while. When the bank called saying that I was three months late, and they were going to take my house, that's when I got my wake up call. Things weren't going to just get better. So I needed to find a way to get some money.

I started to do some research, and asked my cousin for advice since he has been running his own business since 2004 and doing great. I'm really glad I did. He recommended I apply for a grant by using a free program you can get online to help me get started and clear my debt and save my house.

So I took his advice, and here is exactly what I did:

I went ahead and got my credit score, and used that to apply for the grant kit. It doesn't matter if you have a high or low score, they simply want to know your credit score which will help you get more money from the government. I went to the grant website and paid the small $1.99 shipping fee, but seriously, for the amount I got back from this, it seems like a joke to me now. After getting this program, I was immediately able to apply for thousands of grants that most people don't know about. It was really little hassle and I was amazed that more people didn't know about it. With just 1 application I was able to get a check for $12,000 which I will never have to pay back.
